first dentist appointment and horns

Monkey was in rare form yesterday for his very first dentist appointment. this past week i had tried to prepare him for it by reading books about dentist appointments and looking at pictures of other little boys and girls at the dentist. sadly, he was reluctant to go in the first place. telling me he didnt want to go.

but when we got there things se
emed to look up a bit. he was excited to be in the waiting room and to play with the new toys.

once we went back to the room, however, he became uncooperative. his little monkey self came out and he wouldnt sit in the chair. he loved playing with the chair buttons though (after the hygienist said it was ok)!!!

what was nice was that Dr Dave and the hygienist were GREAT! they were very friendly and explained everything. but even after all the explaining and counting of other body parts, Monkey still wouldnt lay in the chair to have his teeth counted. so instead we laid him down across my and Dr Dave's lap. that way Dr. Dave was able to take a quick peek and do a little counting.

the final prognosis..... he has all his teeth and NO cavities! and his little monkey mouth looks great!

Dr Dave said that Monkey could start brushing his own teeth with an "after check" by dad o
r mom. and that we should come back in 6 months for another appointment. hopefully at that time monkey will submit to a cleaning :) i am not holding my breath.

Unrelated, monkey is taking to calling ponytails, horns! haha! when sister had her first ponytail a few weeks ago he immediately commented on her new horn! and he has since continued to mention turtle and how she will have horns. silly kid!
