baby's 1 year appt

my babe had her 1 year appt this morning and all went well. my tiny turtle lightweight is only clocking in at 17lbs 13 oz., that is 7th percentile!!! haha SO funny! and since she is 90% for height, that makes her quite the little string bean!

what is funny is that monkey was always on the lower end of the % for weight. he hovered around 20% but did drop as low as 15 at one point. but turtle started out strong at 50% and stayed there until her 9mo appt where she dropped to 25% and then now to 7!! that is crazy!

our pediatrician isnt worried and in fact kind of predicted it back at her 9mo when she said that she wouldnt be surprised if turtle went down in % more.

anyway, i am sure at some point turtle will start climbing the % again. Monkey was 35% for weight at his 3 year. so i can imagine around 2.5-3 years she will start packing it on :)

oh and my little nugget also has a small head, 25%. but it was a new nurse and honestly, i dont think she did the best job measuring head or height.

the other funny thing that happened is that monkey covered his ears and quietly screamed while turtle got her shot. but turtle did pretty well and only made one little squeak.

the new nurse also had a hell of a time with the bandaids. she kept getting them stuck to her gloves and not to the baby, hahaha!!!

birthday girl!

today marks 1 year since the birth of my baby girl! and i dont know if cell/muscle memory is a 100% sure thing... but last night sure had me wondering.

little turtle woke up at 3am crying (she hasnt done this for over a month). since i knew i couldnt let you cry on your birthday i went to see what was wrong.... poopy diaper.

this is something that NEVER happens. turtle never poohs in her sleep.

so it has me wondering if her little body remembers that this is her birthday? remembers the excitement/fear that she felt at birth? remembers the meconium she passed in utero? i know that is gross... but true maybe? who knows?

anyway, the plan for today is to take lots of pictures of my newly 1 year-old. but to wait on the party. so turtle gets lots of hugs and kisses today.... but not much else.... pressies and cake will have to wait :)
