How squishy Monster baby eats

Toys are alive.... or so we have been lead to believe!

Monkey came back into his room after bath to discover that his Lego Ben 10s had moved around while he was away. So he decided to do an experiment and see if they will move around tonight while he is sleeping. I'd bet good money that they will ;)

Thair he goes!

well it finally happened. we had gone 6.5 long years without a haircutting mishap. but our luck ran out on the luckiest of all days, St. patty's day! an evil leprechaun must have whispered in Monkey's ear because this morning he decided to take the scissors to his sisters hair. Turtle came into the room earlier to tell me he was cutting paper and when i investigated all i saw was paper so i wasnt too worried. but later on i noticed that Turtle's hair looked a little wonky and she had bangs where she used to have none. that is when i asked a few more questions and found a hair pile in the trash!!!! Honestly, the damage is not as bad as it could have been, Turtle just has some new layers and bangs. Actually, i think Monkey may just have a future in the hair industry!!! but now and for a long time to come, the scissors are officially quarantined!

it could have been much worse... but her hair in the front WAS shoulder length.

Bath time

The multiple fits of hysterical crying should have been a clue. Turtle was TIIIIRED! instead of taking a bath with her big brother she decided to go to sleep on the bathroom floor... yummy! she should have tried to get a little closer to the toilet!

Blind corner collision

While rounding a corner the other day, two hyper kiddos in full on sprint mode collided. the point of impact was where chin met forehead. tears were shed. (luckily) no blood was spilled. Turtle wouldnt let me give her an ice pack so over the next hour i watched the bump on her dome grow. now she sports a cute little goose egg.

Im not sure you can see it in the picture really. but i am laughing because her eyes look so googly here haha!

Still a monster

well, maybe more of a skinny monster. The baby had his 1 year appointment today and he is still the tallest of the tall with an "off the charts" reading. but he has thinned out a bit and is now only 50% for weight which is still by far the biggest in our little family. Monkey was always around the 25% for weight and Turtle at the same time was closer to 7% for weight.

The Dr. said he looked perfect and i agreed :)

The $hit 4-year-olds say

Turtle keeps telling me that she is going to have 3 babies when she grows up to be a mommy. she says she is going to name them "wall-e", "eva", and "spaceship"

Born to sing

Turtle graced us with an impromptu morning performance. Maybe she has secretly been watching American Idol?

For the record i have NO idea what she is singing, pretty sure she made it up. also, she may or may not be tone deaf haha

He fits right in

No need to worry if he is genetically related.... his computer obsession makes it clear, he is one of us! he even multi-tasks with his nighttime bottle of mommy milk!

New york city chess

My dad who grew up in NYC is teaching Monkey chess. apparently Monk has picked up on whatever slight accent Grandpa still has left because his pronunciation of Paww-uns is spot on Bronx/Long Island/Jersey Shore! too funny! im not too sure where Base-ship (bishop) came from, but we're rolling with it :)

Big Cheer!

Well, it has happened! Monster has discovered the love for Cheerios!! he has been so/so on them for a while now. but this morning he chose them over oatmeal for breakfast! who doesnt love those little circles of ground and compressed oat?

Radio girl

Turtle has taken to asking about songs on the radio while we are driving in the car.

"whys he sad, mommy?"

"he lost he's sister?"

"he lost he's heart?"

"oh, dats so sad!"

"he sad dat she wawked a-way?"

"if i woose you baby?"

"Dhere are no cwear skies?"

she really wants to figure out the story and why the guys singing are so sad. she is pretty sure that all of the songs are about a sister and a brother and she wants to know why everyone is leaving/walking away. she is so stinking cute!

Im calling it...

OFFICIAL FIRST STEPS!! filmed with the help of the 6 year old

He did a few 'sort of' steps 2 nights ago. but 30 minutes ago i watched as he turned away from the blue couch and took 2 steps to our chair. that is when i knew today was the day. watch as our little monster (2 days shy of 11 months) takes his first steps!

ive kind of got the harsh mommy voice going on... but i had to share anyway even if it is a little embarassing. :)

Future girl

No matter how hard i try to convince her of the opposite, Turtle refuses to believe that you cannot see through the phone line. she is constantly trying to show grandma things by holding them up to the phone! haha! silly girl. maybe she is from the future? im sure in a year or two skype/facetime will be the norm :)

Baby Barricade

Now that Monster is highly mobile, Monkey has taken to trying to deter him in any possible way. Monster attacks toys and ruins games. Soooo, this is the result... a baby barricade

However they tend to be fairly ineffective because Monster is smarter than your average amoeba and manages to find a way out. i would rank his intelligence somewhere between lab rat and adult dog. pillows and pink baskets are not going to keep him contained!

This is how we do it

After several nighttime skirmishes over who would be first for teeth brushing i decided to solve the problem with what i like to call, "Everyone's First". How is that for super mommy?!!! :D thank you very much!!! brushing two mouths at once... now that takes skillz (with a z, no less!)
